Did you know 1 in 25 Americans suffer from food allergies?  For many this means things like sweet treats are off limits.  But not here at The Divine Cupcake!

Approximately 2.5% of children younger than 3 years of age are allergic to milk.  Simple things like cake at a friend’s birthday party are often off limits.  Well, not anymore.  All of our baked goods are always vegan.  This means no dairy and happy birthdays for lucky kids everywhere.

Vegan baking also offers an alternative to another common childhood allergy…Eggs.  Egg allergy is estimated to affect approximately 1.5% of young children.  Our bakers are working hard daily using kitchen magic to ensure you’ll never miss the eggs in these cupcakes.

Awareness for yet another allergy is also on the rise.  An estimated 3 million Americans across all races, ages and genders suffer from celiac.  Not only can we make every flavor in a gluten free option but we have at least three gluten free options available in our café everyday including muffins and scones.

If the prospect of a vegan gluten free cupcake that actually tastes amazing isn’t enough, we also offer sugar free and soy free options by special order.

We firmly believe that having a food allergy (or two) doesn’t mean giving up on life’s little pleasures.

The Divine Cupcake Joins Beer Week

Okay, we all know wine and cheese go together.  Beer and cheese? Sure, why not? Cupcakes and beer? What? Yes.

Our amazing Kitchen Manager, Eli, and 16 Tons Taphouse and Café owner, Mike Coplin, were the masterminds behind Suds, Sweets, and Smarts.  Five fabulous cake and beer pairings that will blow your mind. Created just for the 2nd annual Eugene Beer Week.

Widmer Imperial Russian Raspberry Stout & Death by Chocolate (photo by Jordan Brown)

-Elysian Avatar Jasmine IPA with Tao of Green(green tea)

-Elysian Peste Dark Chocolate Chili Ale with Swizzle Stick(spicy mexican chocolate)

-Rouge Hazelnut Brown Ale with Salted Caramel

-Widmer Imperial Russian Raspberry Stout with Death by Chocolate

-Boneyard Hop Venom with Carrot Cake topped with IPA Buttercream

The Salted Caramel – Rouge Hazelnut and Death by Chocolate – Widmer pairings were definitely the popular choices of the evening.  However, in our opinion, the Jasmine IPA – Tao of Green “takes the cake”, so to speak.  The floral flavor of the IPA combines with the sweet Matcha cake to create a truly zen experience.

Only $3 set you up with a mini cupcake and a beer.  That meant trying all five pairings only set you back $15.  Not bad for a night out on the town.  The first 60 folks through the door walked a way with a free Widmer beer glass.

We want to thank everyone who came out.  We would especially like to thank Mike and the 16 Tons crew for setting everything up.

So, next time you’re craving a cupcake, forget the milk and pour yourself a frosty cold brew.
